I have ordered an X86 with the extra 32GB of RAM so psyched to get it. do you know with PCIe whether any nVidia boards could use that bus? Or are there any expansion plans for adding an optional nVidia processor? it happens to be a really good component for deep learning, and would make the UDOO X86 a real powerhouse for those applications.

    A clarification on eGPU:
the two PCI-e lanes that we will carry to the M.2 slot, in case that the stretch goal is reached, can be used for many purposes, but eGPUs are not the best way to use them.
Indeed, eGPUs usually have all a PCI-e x16 interface, while on our M.2 slot we can have only PCI-e x1 / x2 interface. This means that common eGPUs have a throughput from 16 to 8 times higher than the one supported by the M.2 slots.

This represents a big bottleneck for the communications between the processor and the eGPUs, which could not be so advantageous compared to the internal HD Graphics.

A power button is already present.
There is also a front panel, as it's usual in motherboards, that exposes power button, reset button, status LEDs, HD trigger LEDs etc. You can use the front panel to build a case that interacts with it and has buttons like On/Off and reset button.

@Fuzzyroll: you mean a battery integrated with the device?

"that exposes power button, reset button, status LEDs, HD trigger LEDs etc"

So we'd have to buy those (wires/buttons etc)? Or will they supplied with the UDOO X86

what I don't understand is: with a battery integrated with the device you mean a case that integrates a battery? Or do you want a soldered battery?

My preference would be that they are exposed, not included. This is a tinkerer's device, and therefore shouldn't make too much prefab assumptions. If these things are pre-installed this immediately influences the way you can embed the device into other things as the buttons and leds have a fixed position.
