I got a USB-C to HDMI adaptor cable and plugged it into one of the USB-C ports on my Bolt but I don't get anything on the monitor and dmesg gives this on Ubuntu 18.04
    Code:
    [128611.230491] usb 1-1: new full-speed USB device number 5 using xhci_hcd
[128611.388652] usb 1-1: not running at top speed; connect to a high speed hub
    [128611.406648] usb 1-1: New USB device found, idVendor=0bda, idProduct=2172, bcdDevice= 1.00
    [128611.406652] usb 1-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=17, Product=18, SerialNumber=19
[128611.406654] usb 1-1: Product: BillBoard Device
    [128611.406656] usb 1-1: Manufacturer: Realtek
    [128611.406657] usb 1-1: SerialNumber: 00000000000000000

Should it not just work? Why does it think it isn't a high speed hub?

Well that's a downer. It isn't a cheap eBay special. I got it from Amazon for £12.99.

As it says it works on Mac book and Chromebook and doesn't need a driver I thought it would be compatible. Aren't the both Linux under the hood?

Can anybody recommend one that works? They don't specify the chipset in the advert.

It also doesn't seem to display the BIOS, which was one of the main reasons for getting it because none of my ASUS monitors work in BIOS mode. This board is destined to be a machine controller so I can't keep taking it to my TV. Can anybody recommend monitors that work?

Thanks. To be clear, you can see the BIOS screen via the USB-C cable?
