Udoo bolt seems to be a great board but currently the fan is noisy

Have you the same issue? My board's fan start/stop regulary however the rad is never hot.
Is it possible to regulate fan speed in bios or in windows ? I doesn't see any option in the bios...

    Thankns

I think I saw a section in the bios for a target temp you can set.

It was currently set to 85.

I wonder if adjusting that would change the fan speed. But yes I agree, quite the fan. I made a video of it during game play on here.

We may be able to go fanless with the appropriate sized vapor exchange / heat pipe setup as we only have to remove about 30 watts worth of heat.

The embedded controller's own firmware will need to be modified to perform the tuned PWM fan speed control function.

i hope that they will enhance the bios with this and add a option to see the temperature in real time.

I am not happy with this: the temperature of my ubuntu system is between 35 and 50 and it starts at round about 40 und stops at this... so I have always a start stop at a temperature that is not critical... hopefully it will be possible to start the fan by 65 to 70 degree...

The one used on BOLT has 3-pin (5V, Gnd, Tacho_out) and the screw hole distance is 50mm.

I'm hoping for a bios upgrade or software that will allow me to have more control about this fan. I'd prefer to have it on continuously at a lower speed probably , this on / off / on / off is getting on my nerves :) ... maybe underclocking the cpu would keep it of if I want it to be.

    Hello,
I confirm that a bios upgrade regarding fan control is being worked on as we're speaking. I can't confirm a release date yet, but it's coming!

My temporary workaround till a more elegant solution pops up was adding some risers above the Bolt on which I placed a regular, very quiet CPU fan connected to the 5V and GND of the Arduino. It rotates slowly but creates enough airflow to prevent the on-board fan from kicking in (see image).

The colleague that is handling it is going to be deep in meetings all day long. I'm going to ask him on Monday!

@evaloverde do you have some news which you can share regarding the bios release? The constant fan on/off cycle is super annoying and makes it unusable for my use cases.

    Thank You

there should be a hysteresis between fan on and fan off
e.g. fan on at CPU temperature of 60 deg.C or higher
and fan off at 30 deg.C or lower

these temperature settings should be available for user to set

Fan speed should also available to set

Hope the new BIOS will be come asap!
    Thanks!
