I am thinking connecting udoo to a laptop for development and using the laptop screen as a split screen between Udoo and PC. Is it possible just using basic hdmi connections etc... Any ideas are welcome. I am just exploring

    Thank You

It would probably be a lot easier to just install VNC server on the UDOO and connect to it over the network since it has WiFi built in. This install is not straight forward now because the limited repositories in the base image, but you can enable them after you install the synaptic package manager from what i have read in the forums, i havent tried it yet personally.

Either way, this allows you to easily use you screen, and your keyboard and mouse with no cables

While most modern laptops have an HDMI port, they're probably output only.

When I get my UDOO, my plan is to use my desktop monitor which has multiple inputs and a Picture-in-Picture feature. I'll still need to use a separate keyboard.

You can use xRDP if your connecting from Windows. Another option is to use XMing on Windows and either connect to the Udoo with XDMP or use Putty and an SSH tunnel.
The HDMI on a laptop or PC is output only. You would have to have some type of capture card to enable the input. but remoting into the GUI is the better option.
