    Dears all

I will make a preorder in a few days so I don't have the Udoo x86 and I can't measure myself but in the meantime I want to buy a "transport container" to avoid damage during seat changes.
Please can you measure the thickness of Udoo x86 with and without fan (and with acrilyc case) ?

    Thanks and best regards,

    Stecolumna

The UDOO X86 is approximately 45mm tall with its standard heat-sink and the M.2 SSD installed below the main board. You can add approximately 12mm if the fan will be mounted on top of the standard heat sink.

The acrylic case will only add a small amount (3-5mm) for the case bottom and screw heads.

My photos in this forum post (https://www.udoo.org/forum/threads/a-simple-case-mod-you-may-like-to-use.6924/) may help if you are considering adding an external SSD or HDD disk drive.

    Dear FirstGenGeek
then I hope that a carrying case of 6 cm. internal tall will be enough.
    Thanks and best regards,

If you add the fan you will need at least 7 cm.

The board doesn't come with a fan mounted but a heatsink. And even though I haven't tried the heatsink seems to be removable with a few simple movements.

The thickness of the fan is really based on which one you buy. The one I bought is 30mm x 30mm x 10mm. If you're planning on removing the heat sink on a regular basis, make sure you properly clean the CPU and heat sink, then reapply the correct amount of thermal paste each and every time.

    Dear ImLagging
I will buy the Udoo fan.
I think I only remove the fan, but provided it is a simple operation.
    Thanks and best regards

It should just be 4 screws. Just be careful to not over torque the screws. They don't require a lot of force.
