Just received the x86 and trying to access the boot manager. I can move around in the first graphical BIOS but I can't press Boot Manager, Device Management or SCU without the system stalling. Only option that does anything at all is the Secure Boot Option that just reboots the machine. Does anyone have any suggestions?

No suggestions currently, but I have a few questions, and will think of some suggestions in the mean time:
Does the RTC battery on the underside appear to be connected correctly?
What storage devices do you have attached?
How many USB peripherals do you have attached?

If the battery appears to be connected correctly, the only thing I can think of is that perhaps a setting has somehow gone awry within the UEFI firmware. Removing the RTC battery and waiting a few minutes, then reconnecting it, might solve the issue (as this action will reset the UEFI settings).

Edit: Sorry, I explained a solution only relevant to older BIOS issues on motherboards, where a CMOS was used to store settings.

I would hope the UEFI firmware and settings are in non-volatile memory as required by the UEFI standards and only the RTC depends on the battery.

And I don't see any BIOS reset jumpers on the board so I think we need to see if @ekman had a storage device connected correctly as the most likely source of a "confused" UEFI boot.

Good point! An old habit of mine when trying to solve CMOS related issues on older motherboards.

I have the exact same problem, cannot select the submenu like "Boot Manager" or SCU to set the date and time. Opened a ticket as well.

    Hello all,
I have exactly the same issue with my new UDOO x86 Advanced. I've just come across this forum post having posted my own.

Has anyone had any feedback on how to resolve the issue?

I'm worried that I may have a borked board :(

Thanks in advance, Steve (Backer 2435)

    Hi Steve,
It turns out that the TV that I was using as monitor was the problem. It does not work with the Advanced board. Once I switched to a different monitor, the problem went away. I know it sounds crazy, but that was exactly what happened. I closed my ticket once I hook up a different monitor to the Advanced board. Please give that a shot.

Wow... Tried it on my big TV and it works... Very wierd. I've tried it on 2 separate PC monitors and a small 20" LCD TV and it didn't work until I tried my big TV. Something to do with the HDMI signal/connection/protocol then I presume.

Anyways, it's working now which is terrific.

    Thanks Backer 4474!
