I'm still working on the instructions for the entire cluster build. But I thought I would share my case that I designed for 6 UDOO X86 boards. There is a bit more to the project than just the case. I will be posting more about it soon to https://hackaday.io/project/27869-kuberdoo if you would like to follow.

The case is laser cut from 3mm acrylic. I used a t-bolt design for joining the panels. It was the first time I had ever worked with CAD software so there was a lot of learning involved. But everything worked out pretty well for first shot! It was designed in Onshape and then cut and purchased from Pololu.

Enjoy some photos of the build below!

Finished CAD design and panel assembly (everything appears to fit properly):

Mounting parts to panels using normal computer standoffs:

Front panel has cutouts to for airflow over the heatsinks:

Switches for controlling power and reset for each board:

Custom power harness for the boards and short ethernet cables help with space constraints:

Back panel has a 140mm fan, power port, and ethernet jack:

Everything assembled with only some minor case issues:

Looks pretty good next to my desktop (another small computer as well):

Fan is keeping everything nice a cool, CPUs stayed under 60c in stress tests:

Boards attach to top and bottom panels for extra rigidity:

Great case & project. I've got a kubernetes cluster running on raspberry pi's using a clusterhat, but I think your kuberdoo is way better.
I was looking at getting a case like the cloudshell2 for my udoo x86 until I saw your case, any chance you'll be selling them?

Thanks! I won't be selling them. But I have instructions and files so you can order and assemble one yourself. The drawings are at https://github.com/andyshinn/kuberdoo/tree/master/drawings/v3 and I ordered them https://www.pololu.com/product/749 using 3mm acrylic. Be sure to specify 2 x side panels and 2 x the top-bottom panel (6 panels total). You'll then need some nuts and various hardware which I've listed on the components part of https://hackaday.io/project/27869-kuberdoo.

If you do actually want to have one laser cut, let me know and I'll export v4 drawings (you can also register for OnShape and export the DXF from sketches yourself at https://cad.onshape.com/documents/9...6a25a96fa561acf156/e/013c2a1a40829f74b89b5690). I've updated the sketches since I've cut it. There were some minor errors in placement of holes and such in the v3 version (though, nothing show stopping).

Andy, I am attempting to build something similar using your plans (not attempting the cluster, just using it as a consolidating case to hold/power multiple udoo's). However I am having questions on how to get the power wiring right (very inexperienced working with power) as I've already burned out 2 switches while testing. Do you have a how to for getting the wiring harness and all the plugs wired properly? Trying to ensure I have it right before I fry an Udoo.

Great work! Thanks for sharing. Any intention to build udoo bolt v8 cluster case?
