    Hi guys,

    Very nice project and concept!

I was going to purchase the basic model ($99), but it is missing now....

    1. Is it missing temporary, or you are discontinuing it, or there were too many orders?
    2. Is it possible to order Dual model ($115), and physically remove the Wifi module? - (As far as I understood it is not soldered and attached with header)
    3. Do you have an MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) for those boards? And are they ready for production use?

    Many thanks!

Re: UDOO Dual Basic is missing

i may not fully answer you but ill do my best
    1. its missing temporary
    2. you can disable the wifi module from the settings of the OS you choose but from what i can see on my quad i personally wouldnt try to remove the module as it will probably damage the board.
    3. i have no clue on how to answer this :p

    have a nice day

But from my observation of posted images - it seems that wifi module "sits" on header and additional screw (the place for the module can clearly be seen on Basic model).

Can someone from the staff answer this question (2) officially?

    Many thanks

    Yeah...umm...this is very false.

The screw attaches it, but the pins are not soldered into the board.

The pins are actually the same as the Arduino ones. (They have female pin extensions on them, and the wireless chip has male pins on it.)

I have attached the link to a picture as proof of the ease of detachability of the wireless adapter.

I'm NOT sure how this interferes with the driver, my Quad doesn't boot due to a defective i.MX6, so until I get a replacement I can't do any of the experiments I wanted to. Assuming the i.MX6 still recognizes a wireless device is attached, none of the commands will have any effect, as there is no antennae to communicate. (Now depending on the quality of the driver this may crash the kernel.)

    Thanks,

If this is wrong, and I trust you it is, I shall remove my incorrect post.

Sorry if I caused any problems.
