USB C PD UPS battery pack

    I’ve been trying to make a usb c Pd ups for awhile now and I’ve successfully tested my first prototype. This could potentially work with a udoo bolt as well. I would suggest a 4s2p pack at least for a udoo bolt.

    I do not recommend this type of design. It does not meet my minimum level of expected UPS design (several corners cut.)

    (Just lightly touches the UPS subject...)

    A good/functional/reliable UPS needs detailed design spec to cover all operational scenarios.
    Starts from creating the requirements, e.g.,
    - power path rqmts: e.g., which port takes priority, simultaneous feed or not, if the device on a given port is (down, sleep, offline, detached/unavailable, brown out), need anti-backflow or not, etc. etc.
    - battery mgmt (charging control, discharge control, capacity mgmt, etc.)
    - design also needs to be based on supply source capabilities and scenarios

    Not saying all needs to be covered, but defining them and characterize them, understanding the constraints will be a good start.

    (Sorry, has no time to drill down further. The rest is left for forumers to study and exercise.)

    Thank you for the info.
    At some point I will design a UPS with a Texas instrument bq25703 or similar. At this point I am not experienced enough with pcb design, but that will likely meet the UPS requirements.
