Been a backer and buyer of Udoo boards since the Udoo Quad (except for Udoo Key.) So my surprise to see the new Udoo Vision coming out, without kickstarter.com. My question is this: why use the Intel cpu chip for this new board? Why not use AI machine learning CPU like Nvidia Jetson cores instead? Same power consumption, more powerful results. I just don't see the performance with an Intel Atom CPU being up for the task.
The choice of an Intel Atom CPU for the UDOO Vision, instead of an AI-focused chip like Nvidia Jetson, likely balances broader software compatibility, general-purpose computing needs beyond just AI, potentially lower cost, established ecosystem support, and UDOO's existing expertise with x86 architecture. While Jetson excels in parallel AI processing, the Atom CPU might be better suited for the UDOO Vision's wider range of vision-related tasks and target applications.
