    Hello.

I'm a newbie and I have a Quad Udoo with Android operating system and want to connect a SATA HDD that I recognize it as external storage (SD Card Cell).

    This is possible?

    Thank you.

    A greeting.

I'm having the same issue. I have a 2.5' SATA drive here waiting to be used with the Android image but I don't know how to make Android recognize it. I'm able to access the SATA drive from other Udoo images like debian with gparted, however I don't know what to do there to make Android then detect the SATA drive. Please help.

Today I checked via serial USB output the logs of the boot sequences.

    With Ubuntu I see this:

    [ 2.198601] ata1: SATA link up 3.0 Gbps (SStatus 123 SControl 300)
    [ 2.208280] ata1.00: ATA-9: WDC WD10JPVX-22JC3T0, 01.01A01, max UDMA/133
    [ 2.214990] ata1.00: 1953525168 sectors, multi 0: LBA48 NCQ (depth 31/32)
    [ 2.222085] sitronix_reset_ic
    [ 2.227324] ata1.00: configured for UDMA/133
    [ 2.231897] scsi 0:0:0:0: Direct-Access ATA WDC WD10JPVX-22J 01.0 PQ: 0 ANSI: 5
    [ 2.240565] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] 1953525168 512-byte logical blocks: (1.00 TB/931 GiB)
    [ 2.248237] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] 4096-byte physical blocks
[ 2.253775] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Write Protect is off
[ 2.258653] sd 0:0:0:0: [sda] Write cache: enabled, read cache: enabled, doesn't support DPO or FUA
    [ 2.325602] sda: sda1

So the SATA drive is correctly shown and then also accessible from inside Ubuntu.

However, when I check the Android Serial Log, there is no such SATA drive detection.

So I take it that the Udoo team simply did not enable SATA in the Android Kernel.

Not yet, the 1.4 release fixed LVDS and touch related issue. We are still working on SATA support for Android.

Will SATA be available with Android 1.5? It's just that I'd really like to use this peace of hardware (sata drive) I've bought to use it with Udoo.

The Implementation of SATA to the Raspberry Pi would be faster ;-)

It looks like Boundary Devices added SATA support to the Android Jellybean releases for their i.MX6 boards awhile ago, and also documented how they did it. Go to this link and scroll down to the section on "SATA Support":

    http://boundarydevices.com/android-jell ... sclaimers/

Perhaps this would be useful to the UDOO team (if not already aware of it), or UDOO owners who wish to build their own Android image incorporating the patches described in this post to enable SATA.

I'd also like to see this feature implemented since the UDOO board has a onboard SATA connector.
I think it is not only a speed improvment more a kind of extending storage for media capabilities.
