    Hi everyone!

I started this thread in order to present you a distribution I have created for Udoo Quad and Raspberry Pi named Archphile:

    http://archphile.org/

The recipe is ArchlinuxARM + mpd + ympd (a nice web interface for mpd). The result is a very minimal installation ideal for Audiophile use. I have been supporting the Raspberry Pi for months now. Last week I recieved my Udoo quad and after several days of playing around with this, the first beta for Udoo Quad is ready:

    http://archphile.org/blog/archphile-sup ... 0-25-beta/

    Some basic details:

    - ArchlinuxARM as of 1st March 2014 (do not try to install any package apart from mpd-archphile-ffmpeg or update system!)
    - custom kernel – linux-udoo-archphile based on ArchlinuxARM PKGBUILD (lighter comparing to default and with extra modules needed for USB Dac support)
    - mpd 0.18.11 (two different packages available – one “light”installed and one with ffmpeg support available in Archphile repository [mpd-archphile-ffmpeg])
    - ympd 1.2.1 web interface
    - automounting of usb disks (you have to update the mpd database after plugging the usb stick/disk)
    - support for samba/cifs/nfs shares (you have to edit /etc/fstab – see documentation for details) – both nfs and samba shares were tested and have great performance
    - wifi support with wicd (not enabled by default) – tested and works nice
    - zeroconf support – you can access the web interface using url http://archphile.local - Windows users will need the installation package uploaded here

    Screenshot of the web interface:

I haven't found the time yet to change all content of my website to include information about udoo quad. All the basic stuff you need to know are on the post of the link above.

If you have any question, suggestion or anything related to Udoo Quad and Archphile, feel free to post here or contact me in Archphile Forum.

I have to admit that I am very satisfied with this device, as it's sound quality and performance are superb. It will definitely be my daily driver for my hifi system.

    I hope you enjoy it!

    Regards,

    Michael

    Thanks dantavious!

0.30 Beta, is a huge improvement in terms of system stability and performance and to be honest I did not do anything special. Using a newer kernel (generic linux-armv7 3.15.0) changed the whole behaviour of Udoo in combination archlinux.

I hope that you enjoy it.

    Cheers,

    Michael
