When I boot my UDOO Dual (v1 micro-SD install), it automatically comes up under the ubuntu userid, with most of the processes running as ubuntu and only a couple of processes running as root. This implies that user ubuntu has the equivalent of root priveleges. Is that true? In comparison, my Raspberry Pi comes up with most processes running as root, and only a coup (less than a half dozen) running under the pi userid.

Also, how can I boot the UDOO to come up with a text console (not the desktop), and then start the desktop later?

Thanks to anyone with helpful assistance.

it has a lot of access, but its like the 'pi' on a RasPi.
you still have to use sudo to do most admin tasks like updating software and such.
So 'ubuntu' is not equivalent to 'root'
