Anton over at KKSB let me purchase one of the early cases for my Udoo X86 board. Overall I am happy with case. It looks great. The board fits inside the case properly and all of the ports are accessible. There were no sharp edges on the case and the machining looked good. I would definitely purchase another one from them.

Anton was great to work with. I made a couple suggestions regarding the notes below and he was open to suggestions.

    Notes:
    1) The opening for the heatsink is very tight. In order to get the case on I had to unscrew the fan and then put the fan through the opening sideways. This allowed the case to continue over the heatsink.
    2) Bottom of the case is pretty snug against the M.2 Key B (2260) screws. I did mention this to Anton. It doesn't appear to be any stress on the board.

    Pictures of the case

The only issues i have with is the power button is not accessible, as well the access to the pin headers for the switch. But over all a good looking case.

An alternative is to use the Arduino to power the board on and off. This is the mode that I use currently. A push switch connected to an Arduino pin.

I paid 31 Euro for it with shipping. 24 for the case and 7 for shipping to the USA.

Did you get a feeling for when they may become orderable?

    my response from KKBS...

"The case you have seen is a pre-production series. We have them in stock. If you are interested I can add the product to the shop asap.

For this version, there is no access to power button and IR.

The version with these features is here after Christmas first."

Did you get IR to work then? And if yes, how?

Peeked into this forum because I was lacking a case and really wanted one since i almost crushed the card (which have been on the floor since i got it running 24/7) dropping another computer on top of it yesterday, and lo'n'behold there was one. sure i have some ideas for adjustments, but I own a dremel and can fix them myself ;) ordered.. I need no IR, so I'm good in that respect.

i will take a closer look into the cec and ir for windows next week...
there are a few programms i want to test..

i coulndt managed to get any of them to run on linux...
if i cant also get one of them to run on windows i will take anouther route...
i already found good and EASY alternatives...

    For CEC:
pulse eight is a hdmi cec usb adapter wich seems to work out for CEC pretty good
    https://www.pulse-eight.com/p/104/usb-hdmi-cec-adapter

    For IR:
flirc is a micro usb stick with a built in ir controller wich lets u controll the device via infra red remote...
    https://flirc.tv/more/flirc-usb

both devices are not so cheap... but from what i found online they are doing a good job!
im thinking about getting a Logitech harmony remote so i think i will go with the flirc stick if the internatl ir isnt wokrin on windows...

This is a good idea. I did the same thing while waiting for my antennas to show up. The only issue is the connectors are not U.fl. The proper connector is "MHF-4" I initially grabbed the wrong ones only to find they were very wrong. The image below shows the difference.
