I've done some testing with an eSATA caddy with a SanDisk Extreme ii SSD versus a fast SanDisk uSD card to measure the performance improvement. Edited with updated performance figures. SATA on UDOO Generally the access time for the SATA SSD is about a fifth of the uSD, and the throughput is safely more than five times greater. However the performance is still somewhat off the performance of the same drive in an amd64 machine. But, I guess that is to be expected. I'd be interested to understand whether the UDOO u-boot and kernel can be written to a SATA drive, and therefore allow the uSD card to be removed entirely.
