I installed the Debian Wheezy ARMHF v1.0beta image from the UDOO webstie onto a microSD and put it in a UDOO Quad.
I hooked up wired ethernet and the debug serial console to an adjacent windows machine.
Upon boot I saw some errors with the audio.
I performed sudo apt-get update, sudo apt-get upgrade and the boot error went away.

I logged-in and then let everything sit for awhile (doing nothing with the debug console, wired ethernet, headless).
(I'll want to use vnctightserver in the future so I can remotely access descktop on UDOO)

After about 5 hrs I got the following kernel panic:
    Code:

Trying to debug this. Doe anyone know where I can find the system.map file for this build?

NOTE: I was getting a similar kernel panic under Linaro Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.

    Thanks,

Re: Debian w/lxde Kernel oops - panic

So, no system.map to be found.

    The two lines with:
    Code:
    Modules linked in: vivante drm
Seems to indicate the problem is with the GPU driver? Perhaps the headless configuration is resulting in this failure...

I need to either somehow disable the driver, or hook-up a display and retest ...

Re: Debian w/lxde Kernel oops - panic

    Update:

I downloaded the Ardunio HFP IDE, but received an error with a lib when trying to upload

I changed my sources.list to testing (jessie) and went through a twice interupted apt-get dist-upgrade (had two kernel panics in the middle of the upgrade).

It was painful and I probably have a corrupt installation, but I recovered both times and was able to finally get it up and running. Jessie seems to run better (right now) ;) and the Ardunio HFP IDE upload error went away :D (my servos are spining around right now).

Refering to the post by jas-mx and the unofficlal debian jessie, it looks like jessie works better. Caution: its debian teasting which means things may break in the future.

I'll cook this for awhile and report back if I get the same Vivante DRM kernel panic ... Meanwhile, I may try to build jas-mx's version and install it on my microSD

Kernel Panic after 4 hrs. Looks similar to prior kernel panics: PREMPT SMP...., except module is blank .
Since this fs was an upgraded debian dist that was interupted twice I will not post the debug console contents.

    FRUSTRATING!

Re: Debian w/lxde Kernel oops - panic

I have burned the Jessie image from jas-mx onto a SD micro

    debian-jessie-rootfs-with-gpu-vpu-t693.html#p5127

This seems to work much better and I haven't seen any kernel panics for 2 days now. I also had tried the Ubuntu 12.04 LTS ver 2.1 from the download page: udoo_quad_ubuntu1204_v2.1.zip. I didn't have any kernel panics with it either.

I will mark this solved as with these new images the kernel panic problems are gone.
