The original thread discussing this --> https://www.udoo.org/forum/threads/ultra-in-what-situation-should-it-boost-up-to-2-56ghz.6989/

I have the advanced running Debian Stretch.

    Code:
    root@udoo:~# cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_available_governors
    performance powersave

I only see two available governors. Powersave was selected by default.

    Powersave
    Code:
    analyzing CPU 3:
      driver: intel_pstate
CPUs which run at the same hardware frequency: 3
CPUs which need to have their frequency coordinated by software: 3
      maximum transition latency: 0.97 ms.
      hardware limits: 480 MHz - 2.24 GHz
      available cpufreq governors: performance, powersave
current policy: frequency should be within 480 MHz and 1.79 GHz.
The governor "powersave" may decide which speed to use
                      within this range.
current CPU frequency is 480 MHz (asserted by call to hardware).

current CPU frequency is 788 MHz (asserted by call to hardware).

I haven't looked into it much. But with either one selected I seem to cap out at 1.76 GHz. The hardware limit clearly shows 2.24 GHz but the two only available governors only go up to 1.79 GHz

For some reason speed is limited to 80% of maximum. 1.79 GHz is 80% of 2.24 GHz, and on my Ultra also 2.05 GHz is 80% of 2.56 GHz.

Here's a screen shot of my Udoo X86 Ultra, with the CPU clock at 2.55GHz. The hardware is capable of the burst speeds to 2.55GHz with Windows 10. Windows 10 has great control over usage of the burst speeds. It will even burst to 2.55GHz at 50% utilization.

I did some playing with Ubuntu and Debian, and they both set governed speeds less than the capable speed. "cpufreq-set -u 2560000" is literally ignored by the pstate driver. The pstate driver appears to be stuck in the early days of thought where you didnt have a good understanding of the CPU capabilities, and is conservative in settings for stability reasons. There's instructions in the internet for turning off pstate drivers, and control it natively. With the lack of *GOOD* BIOS control for the CPU fan, I would hesitate to do this myself, as I would choose a cooler / more stable system.

Linux is great for many things, but not for decent control over a processor it seems. Video adapters had similar problems with drivers for years. You should work with the Linux community for a resolution as the Udoo hardware appears to be working as designed.

Awesome, thank you! Is there any chance of seeing the case and power supply back in stock too? I'd like to purchase them all in one go if possible ;)
