We bought a Udoo quad and when we install the default OS images(4.4.2 or 2.2) and load up a basic mp4 video the video plays back at 2x speed.

Has anyone else ran into this issue yet?

What video player app are you using? Is there a "chipmunk effect" also, where sound is at an unnaturally high pitch?

Software often uses the audio track as a master timing reference for both audio and video, so one possibility is that your player may be requesting a low sample rate, like 24000 or 22050 samples/sec, getting 48000 instead (the only rate supported by Udoo's vt1613 analog codec chip, assuming you're using that), but failing to compensate for the difference, resulting in playback timing being way off.

ALSA can be set up, via /etc/asound.conf or ~/.asoundrc, to do software resampling and mixing in cases like this (if the application itself isn't capable). It's algorithm isn't the best quality, but is often good enough. Look into the 'dmix' plugin if you want to give that a try.
