Basically an extension cord. There are different kinds. Some do for example split PCIe x4 into 2 x PCIe x2. But brilliant I will order the one that you got

I did. I get cards like this. SI-PEX40057-PT02-500x500.jpg

And now I feel pretty stupid because I can't see how you would fit that into the udoox86?

So I ordered up that Innodisk 2 port with the RAID controller linked at the start of the thread minutes after reading this thread which was minutes after putting my pre-order in a few months back.

I've got it all put together now, but I'm a bit of a linux noob so i'm still figuring things out. It does work, i'm just trying to figure out if it works completely or if there's limitations.

    anyway, running this:
    lsblk -io NAME,TYPE,SIZE,MOUNTPOINT,FSTYPE,MODEL
    spits out this:
    NAME TYPE SIZE MOUNTPOINT MODEL
    sda disk 298G H/W RAID1

so that seems encouraging. I still have to figure more things out, and i'll update more as i learn, but if anyone wants to point me in the right direction in the meantime that would be helpful too :)
